POTENS is a provider of accommodation and specialist support, in the Wirral area, for adults with learning disabilities.
Founded in 1989, the motivation was the belief that the way forward, for the development of services, lay within the concept of partnership – an approach which continues to be applied to all aspects of our work.
The partnership involves four main principles – TRUST, POSITIVE REGARD, SHARED LEARNING AND EQUALITY and our specialist support staff are committed to providing 24 hour person centred care within the structures that ensure that each person has access to appropriate activities including employment opportunities where possible.
Our range of services includes self-contained flats with support from our outreach team; multi-occupancy supported living units and residential care homes of varying occupancy levels.
Individuals with more complex needs and/or challenging behaviour are offered the appropriate care packages, as are all our service users, through comprehensive initial and continual assessment and close liaison with external professionals from the multi-disciplinary care teams, including psychiatrists, community nurses, general practitioners etc.
We pride ourselves that our service provisions are tailored to the individual and their needs.
We will endeavour to draw on the necessary resources to formulate a realistic care plan for anyone referred to us for whom we feel that we are able to offer an appropriate placement.

As a group, we are always interested in providing a service to meet needs either within an established unit or by the setting up of a new facility.

New projects currently in the developmental stages include residential facilities and supported living units.
