The Home

Nayland House is part of ; an organisation dedicated to caring for the elderly.

Nayland House is a private, luxury Residential Care Home for the elderly.

Nayland, Suffolk is a beautiful historic village on the banks of the River Stour. It is conveniently situated between Colchester and Sudbury on the A134 and easily accessed from the A12 (via the Stoke-by-Nayland exit).

Nayland House is in an elevated position at the heart of the picturesque, thriving village of Nayland, set back 100m off Bear Street, behind the Nayland Primary School. The private road from Bear Street is sign posted to The Vicarage and is a public footpath.

The History of Nayland House
The building now known as Nayland House comprises the original St. James Vicarage with the stables and coach house built in 1903, together with various extensions built between 1978 and 1986 when it functioned as a Nursing Home.

The refurbishment programme was radical in order to bring the building and facilities up to the very high standards that are synonymous with our reputation. Parts of the interior have been completely rebuilt in order to provide larger rooms all with en-suite facilities. Much of the building's interior will be unrecognisable to anyone that had been familiar with it. All equipment, fixtures, fittings and furnishings are new.

The interior layout and design of Nayland House is stylish, bright and spacious, yet at the same time traditional and homely with a country house ambiance. We have all the facilities one would expect in a modern, purpose built Residential Care Home, but we have retained much of the character and charm of the original Edwardian era.

Nayland House was the winner of a National Healthcare Design Award in February 2000 under the category of 'Best Revival Project'. In July 2001 we opened our 'new wing' designed around an interior courtyard, the focal point of which is a hexagonal pond and fountain. The majority of these spacious new rooms have doors that open directly onto the gardens.

The Matron is Mrs. Tania Scarlett RGN; she is an experienced nurse with a wide range of professional skills.
