- Each
of the four units (San Luca, San Marco, San Francesco and
Santa Rita) has a television in its own lounge area, on which
various Italian channels can be seen and Residents are more
than welcome to have individual televisions in their own rooms.
- One of
the Sisters is dedicated to maintaining the levels of entertainment
for the Residents. This includes organising group activities
such as discussions, singing, drawing, making cards, watching
videos, etc.
- There
is a weekly visit from a musician who plays typical Italian
music, amongst others, on his accordion.
- There
are regular visits from several volunteers, who not only take
time to chat to the Residents, but also encourage them to
be involved in doing exercises, gardening and various other
activities.
- Residents,
who are able, are taken out to various local places either
for their pleasure or to go shopping.
- Fire
drills are enacted regularly.
- Villa
Scalabrini conforms to the regulations of the National Care
Standards Commission and is monitored by the Hertfordshire
Area Office.
